Education Resources - String Mix Series 1 and 2

String Mix is a collection of tunes specially designed and composed to introduce string players of all ages to engage in ensemble playing.
The String Mix series covers basic beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels. String Mix series 1 ranges between Level 1 to Level 4 and String Mix series 2 covers Level 4 onwards.
The content incorporates a diverse range of popular genres including:
  • Rock
  • Jazz
  • Blues
  • Latin
  • and more...
These are genuine original tunes that incorporate stylistic relevant melodic, rhythmical and technical issues appropriate to the students' level. Each tune features multiple voices, which can be assigned to mixed string ensembles, cello ensembles or string orchestras.
The intention is to include students of various skill levels; hence the multiple parts accommodate these issues. The music lends itself as invaluable teaching resources for individuals, small groups and larger ensembles. It can be further explored and expanded in workshops and studies as well as in performances. There is also room to experiment and incorporate guided improvisations. For these improvisations specific sections are designated and instructions suggested. Many student ensembles have inspiringly performed the compositions of the above series one and two.
